Xenon flares install on the sides of all four wheel wells to provide a guard from brush and other debris while you are off-road. These flares don't take much to install and can be installed in your driveway in about an hour. Xenon offers many different styles of these flares. You will need some basic tools and other supplies to install these correctly.
Prepping the wheel wells
Wipe the outer wheel well wall using warm soap and water and then allow the wheel well to air dry. Apply a small amount of gas to a towel and wipe the clean surface, then allow the gas to evaporate.
Tip: Gas won't hurt the paint and will remove any oil that may be on the wheel well wall. Oils will keep the adhesive tape from working properly.
Drilling the mounting holes
Place a Xenon flare onto the wheel well wall in the position that you want it mounted. Have a friend hold the Xenon flare on the wheel well for support. Drill starter holes into the wheel well wall through the mounting holes on the inner edge of the flare.
Tip: Make sure that the flare is even and that it is in the correct spot before you start drilling holes.
Applying adhesive tape
Place the adhesive tape along the edge of the Xenon flare just above the mounting holes on the side of the flare that will connect to the wheel well. The tape is two sided so just remove one side of the cover film until you are going to mount the flare onto the frame.
Mounting the flare
Remove the cover film from the side of the tape that is going to connect to the wheel well wall. Place the flare onto the wheel well and push hard to secure the flare to the wheel well.
Tip: Make sure that the flare is even because it will be difficult to re-adjust the flare once the tape has taken hold.
Bolting on the flare
Insert the mounting bolts into the mounting holes. Connect the nuts to the bolts on the inner side of the wheel well wall. Tighten all of the bolts and nuts using a ratchet, socket and box wrench.
Tip: Their are no torque specifications for the nuts and bolts. Tighten the nuts and bolts until they are as tight as you can get them with you hands. You may need to re-tighten the nuts and bolts after you have been off-roading a few times.
The installation process is the same for all four flares and you will use the same tools for each flare.
